Aloe Vera

There is nothing new about "Aloe Vera". Its countless cures have been known for centuries. Egyptian beauties like Nefertiti and Cleopatra are reputed to have bathed daily in the juice of Aloe Vera and their cosmetics kits were replete with aloe based products. This helped  them to keep their skin soft and supple. Aloe Vera was crucial to Ayurveda.

In Sanskrit it is called “Kumari” which refers to a virgin and aloe is so called because it imparts the energy of youth.

Aloe Gel is recommended as a bitter tonic (particularly for liver and spleen), rejuvenative, purgative and a number of ayurvedic medicines are still made with Aloe Vera as a base. It is good for the blood and female reproductive system. Ayurveda believes that Aloe Vera helps to regulate sugar and fat metabolism and tonifies the agni (digestive fire).

At the heart of Aloe lies the gel which serves as a base for various creams and cosmetics (lotins, shampoos, moisturizers, hair conditioners, shaving lotions, antiperspirants, tooth paste etc).

Aloe gel imparts anti inflammatory and anti aging effects. It helps the skin produce collagen and elastin which reduces the wrinkle. It penetrates deep into the skin ( four times faster than water) and is therefore ideal carrier for other oils and herbs. It works wonder for the skin. From frost bites to burns, Aloe Vera facilitates the healing of various skin related damages and ailments.

Applied to wounds, it helps to heal faster by stimulating the fibroblasts- the skin cells that help to heal wounds. It is anti-inflammatory, mildly antibiotic, fungicidal and regenerating.

Aloe further relieves pain, swelling, itching, and increases the flow of blood to the wounded areas.
