What's wrong with the Mithai's and Sweets?

Indian desserts and sweetmeats as sweetly called ‘Meethayees’ or 'Mithais' are our USP worldwide. The taste and richness of flavor is unique but many Nutritionist frown at it muttering “its killing!!!”.

Well, how these little treats can be so bad to raise your cholesterol or harm your insulin resistance.

The sugar levels are steeply high in Indian sweets. This can off center your normal insulins and also spike up the triglycerides.

The Khoya used in milk based sweets are fattening. These ae hugely high on saturated fat that can clogg your arteries.

The colours, preservatives and the decorative silver foil make the sweet meat aha not so sweet but a pefect antidote to bad health.

So, what will you do on Deepawali?

Best option is to stay with dry fruits and high quality dark chocolates. If you like Indian sweets, make them at home - with perfect ingredients and love.

This Diwali Gift Health!!!

Wishing you a healthy Diwali.

Nutrition Expert at DesiDieter says :

The pure fat Khoa is 'killing'....it is a potential contributor to artery clotting factor.

Most Indian Mithais are prepared using Khoa and the high content of sugar and ghee makes it a calorie dense pound of lard which will not burn out unless one runs a mile....
